We had the privilege on 13th October to be online with a number of members to provide supplier updates and also an overall Procurement update. In addition we had the opportunity to have a 1-1 interview with Melissa Elf, General Manager, FCM (part of the flight centre travel group). We got to hear from Winc on stationery and key points of discussion were:

• Strategic partnership—how they have been striving to improve service levels
• Sustainability and indigenous product line
• Alignment with NARTA Ethical Sourcing strategy
• Fun quiz—2 Earthsaver packs won by Arun at JB Hi-Fi and Emma from Appliance plus (Congrats!)

Next we got to hear from Suez who offered a number of key insights:

• Business Transformation—involving structural changes to account management
• Smart processing of waste
• Energy from waste (capital investment)
• Plastic & Polystyrene recycling—new methods and support with business cases

We then heard from F&M Supplies our new PPE provider who gave us information about their business:

• Benefits of both local and overseas manufacturing
• Inventory management
• Online ordering
• Available in AU & NZ

During the Procurement update we shared with you:

• New category information—real estate, fleet, ICT and PPE
• Our risk management strategy
• The focus we have on new affiliates and growing the program
• Introducing our new team face to face
• Overall category updates

With the IVE Group, we got to hear from our new ac-count director Steve Maidens. Their update included:

• Technology solutions
• Business strategy
• POS print
• Online catalogues
• Diversity and inclusion program

Finally we had the pleasure of interviewing Melissa Elf, GM of FCM Australia. Mel shared terrific insights into how she has been able to lead within their business during the pandemic and how Flight Centre continued to support their employees during this challenging time.
